Black Walnut is considered by wood experts to be on the same par as the world's most exotic hard woods. Most of the Walnut trees in America were cut down in the 1960s to feed the demand from the nation's furniture makers making Black Walnut a desired and much sought after wood. It's a beautiful tight grained dark wood that resembles Indian rosewood. The solid brass tips are hand made here in the shop too on our Unimat mini machine lathe and polished to a soft, bright luster and hand rubbed with Antique Oils before leaving the shop. I love the Okito styled wand. There used to be a kindly old gent in Nashville who owned one of the world's finest collections of rare and unusual magic posters, wands, books, photos, everything you can imagine short of large illusions. Well, he had in his collection a wand that Okito made for himself and it had the third ring positioned like the one you have. The stick was more slender but about the same length. The Okito wand I make is a commemorative wand celebrating the magic craft of Okito.
